Role OverviewThe Warehouse and Pick Packing Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a warehouse team to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe processing of goods. This includes overseeing picking, packing, dispatch, and replenishment activities, while maintaining productivity targets and quality standards. The role requires flexibility to work across day, late, and weekend shifts as part of a supervisory team providing 7-day coverage.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipSupervise and coordinate warehouse operations during assigned shifts (day, late, or weekend).Lead and motivate pick and pack teams to achieve daily targets for accuracy, efficiency, and output.Plan and allocate labour to meet operational demand and service-level requirements.Ensure all goods are picked, packed, and dispatched in line with customer specifications and delivery schedules.Oversee receipt, storage, and replenishment of stock to maintain accurate inventory levels.Monitor workflow and proactively resolve issues to minimise downtime or bottlenecks.People ManagementSupervise, train, and coach warehouse operatives, including conducting regular performance feedback and shift briefings.Foster a positive, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment.Support shift scheduling and rota planning to maintain adequate coverage across all operating hours.Manage attendance, punctuality, and adherence to company policies and procedures.Health, Safety, and ComplianceEnsure full compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures at all times.Conduct regular safety checks, audits, and risk assessments.Promote and enforce safe working practices, including manual handling and equipment use.Report and investigate any accidents, near misses, or breaches of safety standards.Process Improvement and ReportingIdentify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity, accuracy, and efficiency.Monitor daily KPIs and provide reports to the Warehouse or Operations Manager.Ensure warehouse systems (WMS/ERP) are updated accurately in real time.Support stock counts, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy initiatives.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Pick Accuracy: ≥ 99%Order Fulfilment Rate: ≥ 98% of orders dispatched on timeProductivity: Targets met or exceeded per labour hour (e.g., picks/hour)Inventory Accuracy: ≥ 98% alignment between physical and system stockHealth & Safety Compliance: Zero lost-time incidents; 100% completion of safety checksTeam Engagement: Positive feedback and low absence rate within the teamContinuous Improvement: Number and impact of efficiency or quality improvements implementedSkills and ExperienceProven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams across shifts.Experience in pick, pack, and dispatch processes within FMCG, e-commerce, or distribution environments.Competent in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and MS Office tools.Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality standards.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Flexible to work across day, late, and weekend shifts as required.Desirable QualificationsLevel 3 qualification in Warehousing, Logistics, or Supervisory Management.FLT licence (Counterbalance or Reach).First Aid or Fire Marshal certification."
