Position Overview:The Store Planning & Construction Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of new store development, from the pre-lease and pre-construction phases through to turnover to store management. This role ensures the implementation of a well-defined strategic plan for new store openings across various regions. The scope of store planning and construction spans retail (full price, outlet) and wholesale (e.g., shop-in-shop, side-by-side).
Key Responsibilities:Project Management: Facilitate the project management of all aspects of new store construction, remodels, and relocations. This includes planning, coordinating, and overseeing the entire process from pre-lease to store handover.Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with General Contractors, Landlords, Vendors, and Municipalities. Negotiate all proposals to ensure the best pricing possible and identify cost-saving measures.Team Collaboration: Maintain a close relationship with local country teams, including General Managers and Retail Managers, to ensure smooth project execution.Design Coordination: Attend weekly meetings with the US Store Design Team to align on design objectives and ensure the implementation of TUMI’s brand standards.Budget and Schedule Management: Manage, monitor, and communicate project schedules, budget guidelines, progress, and costs to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Visual Marketing Collaboration: Work with the Visual Marketing team to develop and execute TUMI design objectives, ensuring company standards of appearance, quality, quantity, and costs are met.Vendor Coordination: Coordinate and handle all vendors regarding the delivery of sites for store openings. Ensure timely and efficient delivery of all project components.Site Visits: Conduct site visits as needed to monitor construction progress, remodels, relocations, and creation of punch lists.Special Projects: Assist with special projects related to store development, design, and customer experience to enhance the overall retail environment.Brand Implementation: Ensure the implementation of the TUMI Brand Concept in all stores in coordination with the US team.Travels : Willingness to travel (approx. 30%).
Qualifications:Education: Degree in Business Administration, Architecture, Engineering, or Project Management.Experience: 10 years of relevant work experience in retail construction, architecture, or project management.Languages: Fluent in French & English.Technical Skills: Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings; proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project), Suite Adobe (photoshop…), and other relevant software. AutoCAD is a plus. Project Management: Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and managing construction projects from inception to completion.Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) for effective collaboration with architects, contractors, and stakeholders.Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Problem-Solving: Creative thinker and problem solver with a proactive approach.Leadership: Demonstrated leadership, responsiveness, and accountability.
